Electrical Engineering

New Venture

The client is a Queen’s Masters of Entrepreneurship & Innovation student is working on a venture involving a chemical sensor for detection at the nano scale. He is looking for an electrical engineering student to design a circuit to his specifications. You get to be involved in creating the PCB for a real product to be designed and sold! More details on the goals of the project will be given by the client.

Send in your resumé if you're interested in discussing this project further with the client!

Learning Opportunities

  • Working with an entrepreneur to bring a product from idea, to market.
  • Serve as a technical advisor.
  • Experience in electronics design and manufacturing.

The project consists of two milestones, each worth half of the money available.

  1. Design the circuit, including selecting the power supply and timing system, designing the oscillator, and creating a Gerber file of the circuit to print the PCB from.
  2. Create a mechanical lowering system to add/remove the chip from the circuit when the machine is on/off

Required Skills

  • An upper-year engineering student with relevant course/design-team experience
  • Experience creating Gerber files and PCBs
